A home for Redwing

When I was in third grade, our family bought a horse. His name was Redwing. He was loving and gentle; I thought we would keep him forever. Later on we moved far away to a house where people weren't allowed to keep horses. The only place we could keep him was a boarding stable. It was miles away, and we ended up by going to ride him only once a week.

It became clear he needed company, and we knew we should be riding him more often. Our family talked about selling him, but we kids always vetoed the suggestion quickly. All of us were Christian Scientists though, and after praying to God to tell us the right thing to do, we felt the best solution was to sell Redwing. We knew that he would be happier and that God would take care of him just as He takes care of the rest of His creatures.

My parents put an ad in the newspaper, and calls about Redwing started coming in. People came to the boarding stable to look him over, but none of them stayed interested. After our whole family had done some praying, more people answered the ad, but still no one bought him.
