Peer pressure and purity

Patty sat in her room, listening to records by two of her favorite groups, Abba and the Commodores. But today her mind kept drifting from the music. She was upset.

"It isn't right!" she grumbled inwardly. "Why should guys try to take advantage of me? I don't lead them on."

She and her mother often talked about the growing popularity of sensual indulgence in teen relationships. It sharply conflicted with what Patty knew about God and His creation. The Bible, which she studied regularly, describes the nature of genuine love (or "charity," as the King James Version translates the word) this way: "Charity . . . doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil."  I Cor. 13:4, 5;
