The sergeant and the captain
"Jackson, if I have anything to do with it, I'll bust your rank to buck private," bellowed the Army captain.
Jim swallowed hard and went back to his work, determined to stay out of the captain's way. Jim had known the captain for over a year, and the man always seemed to express an intense dislike for him.
Two days later Jim was told that the captain was to be his new immediate commander. He was really worried. He had worked hard for the rank of sergeant and didn't look forward to being busted. It would mean not only a loss of rank but reassignment to a less important job and a considerable reduction in pay.
