In 1939 I became a member of The Mother Church, and during the intervening years the study and practice of Christian Science have enriched my life in every way. There have been many physical healings, including those of heart trouble, shingles, chronic severe bronchitis, and an ear infection that temporarily affected my hearing in one ear.
I remember with awe and gratitude a healing, through mental surgery, of an alarming infection in my finger. When the wound opened and drained, the Christian Science practitioner who was helping me urged me to thank God that this Science heals.
Many important lessons have been learned. Endeavors to be more Christlike have eliminated dispositional traits and character flaws. The healing of physical difficulties is ample reason to have heartfelt gratitude for Science. However, this Christ, Truth, reaches into every detail of one's life and enhances one's home, employment, well-being, and general usefulness.
