Prayer dissolves mental chains
Hostages in Iran. In Colombia.
The reactive frustration shows that mankind are still more or less captive to their own material convictions regarding man. But sincere prayer that unites itself with the divine Science of man— with the spiritual facts of being—can progressively dissolve the mental chains of materialism and help all involved in these crises.
Christian Science presents the truth that man is, in reality, idea, the spiritual image of divine Love. Man's real nature and environs are found in Love, rather than in matter, because Love is infinite Mind, the all-knowing, all-governing Principle. Since man is idea, he cannot deviate from the original perfection in which Mind conceives him. Man could cease to be the manifestation of Love only if Love could become less than or unlike Love. But God is the infinite I AM; He does not change—nor does His expression.
