Years ago, when my older sister and I first came to Florida to live for a while with an aunt and uncle, we were enrolled in the Christian Science Sunday School. Our aunt had begun the study of this Science after receiving an instantaneous and permanent healing of chronic sick headaches, and she wanted us to have the benefits of this precious teaching.

My first healing was of fear of the dark, which had tormented me all my life. The next two summers my sister and I played without fear in an area where alligators and poisonous snakes had frequently been seen. Our aunt had a remarkably keen awareness of God's protective power. In her prayer both morning and night, she put the whole family "in the secret place of the most High" (Ps. 91:1)—in divine Love's tender, sustaining guardianship.

When my sister and I rejoined the family in another state, the younger children were also enrolled in the Christian Science Sunday School, and our mother took up the study of Science. Within a year she was doing healing work, and a short time later she became listed as a practitioner in The Christian Science Journal. At the passing of our uncle, the family returned to Florida, and I went to live with our aunt.
