Christian Science does heal
An aggressive challenge jolted me: "Although I've prayed about this condition for years, it's still here and getting worse. Can Christian Science handle this?"
The blemish, which had been there for about ten years, was beginning to spread, and the appearance alarmed me. I had frequently pondered Mrs. Eddy's statement from the Christian Science textbook, "A spiritual idea has not a single element of error, and this truth removes properly whatever is offensive." Science and Health, p. 463; I knew that God is divine Mind and that man is His spiritual idea, pure and holy. This, then, rather than material mortality, was the truth of my being.
I loved to reason along these lines. But I was not healed. Then, faced with the fear that Christian Science was helpless in this instance, I saw that my treatment needed the kind of defense that would enable it to fulfill its purpose. The defense entailed specific reversal of the belief that Christian Science doesn't heal.
