The efficacy of the spiritual perspective
In the March 3 "Perspective" we dealt with the upsurge of brutality as evidenced in the massacre of villagers in Afghanistan, political repression in many countries, and the prison riot in New Mexico. One may sometimes be tempted to feel that while the truth of being can seem enormously uplifting to someone sitting in the comfort of his home, it may appear remote indeed to those actually involved in these kinds of turbulent events.
For this reason, we feel our readers will find what follows stirring proof that someone confronted firsthand with evil in an extreme form can find comfort and protection through an understanding of Christian Science; can emerge from the ordeal with his conviction of the supremacy of good and the perfection of God's universe unscathed.
Realizing this should make us all more insistent in our prayers, more convinced that the truths we are striving to apprehend can have immediate and practical efficacy in the situation at hand, and can through the Christ save those in need by rousing them to the divine reality.
