Truth must change us
Like the Bible's Jacob, we may have wrestled long and hard with some moral or physical problem. Our prayers for spiritual enlightenment may have been deep, sincere, and authenticated by daily Christian living.
Then the spiritual truth we need in order to see through the problem dawns on us. The welcome beams of Truth brighten us, and we are glad.
But it is here that we should be most alert. The temptation is to be satisfied with a merely intellectual grasp of the truth. If it could, the carnal mind would have us be content with a superficial sense of Truth that is abstract and without power or effect.
