Spiritual rhythm in human affairs
The ear picks up a catchy tune. The foot begins to tap out its recurring beats and accents. In like manner, human consciousness picks up patterns of thought, and the body, indeed our whole human experience, can pulse to its cadence. How vital, then, that we be discriminating about the mental impressions we accept.
The rhythm of Spirit, God, is always present, conveying its steady assurances of God's love for man. But we have to hear spiritual measures before we can pick them up and respond. This requires inspired listening. "To discern the rhythm of Spirit and to be holy," says Mrs. Eddy, "thought must be purely spiritual." Science and Health, p. 510;
Our inward "ear" picks up Spirit's messages. Each of us has this spiritual sense. By means of our innate, God-given sense of reality we can hear His accents and respond to the heartbeats of divine Love meeting human needs. Then we are encouraged as our divine energies, our health and harmony, become evident.
