I am grateful for the variety of needs that Christian Science has met throughout my life. Health, companionship, family, adequate income, and wholesome activity have been evidenced in my life through radical dependence on God.
The first healing I can recall took place when I was about ten years old. I had an extremely sore throat at the time and had been unable to eat solid food for at least a day. My mother prayed for me, but I did not seem to get better. One afternoon it was necessary for her to go out on an errand. After making me comfortable, she gave me the feeling that I had a real part in praying about this problem. I am certain that she continued praying after she left, but she wisely encouraged me to feel that I needed to and could do my own praying.
