Compassion to heal

When a Roman officer sought healing for his servant, Christ Jesus did not delve into national characteristics and origins; he simply replied, "I will come and heal him." Matt 8:7;

Those familiar with this incident know also that Jesus did not have to make a journey to the servant's bedside to heal him. Spiritual healing does not necessarily require that. But it does require a sense of compassion for our fellowmen, an active love kept vital by an overwhelming awareness of God's eternal and universal love for man.

A spiritual, scientific understanding of God as Love itself and of man's inexpungeable relationship to Him enables the metaphysician, or spiritual healer, to follow Jesus' example today. It enables the healer to put aside, to negate, limiting and deadly prejudices and false notions evolved strictly from a material sense of life and identity. Spiritual understanding frees the healer to reason directly from a spiritual sense of Life as God, as Mind, Love, and Spirit; the healer identifies man as the very reflection of Life, Mind, Love, Spirit. Sound scientific, or spiritual, reasoning discovers man as actually not identified with material circumstances or conditions, not encumbered by material laws or theories, but representative of the one all-good God.
