Cissy's healing
Cissy lived on a naval base where her daddy was a Navy flier. It was fun living on an island in the Pacific and wearing a muumuu to school every day. She liked riding on the big yellow bus, too. But Cissy had been very sad lately because no one wanted to play ring-around-the-rosy with her. She had many warts on both hands.
She and her mother had a talk about it. They decided that they would call a practitioner and ask him for Christian Science treatment. Cissy remembered that her family had had many healings through praying to God and through studying the Bible and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy.
Cissy and her mother talked about what their part could be in this healing. Then they read in the Bible about "the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot." I Pet. 1:19; Next, in Science and Health they found Mrs. Eddy's spiritual interpretation of "Lamb of God." Part of it has these words: "The spiritual idea of Love." Science and Health, p. 590. They knew that God's spiritual idea was Cissy's real selfhood.
