About ten years ago I became aware of a spot on my face. It was not too evident, and now and then I prayed about the problem. Yet the blemish continued to develop until it became very unsightly and troublesome. At least three different Christian Science practitioners prayed for me at various times over the years, and I am grateful for the help of each one. Still, the condition seemed not to improve. It remained with me and demanded regular attention, as I had to change the bandage every day. I knew in my heart that I must come to grips with the situation through my understanding of Science.

Many times I began a course of prayer and study of the Bible and the textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, that seemed void of results. I am glad to say, however, that at no time did I feel Christian Science had failed or was failing me. Also, I am grateful that the problem did not prevent me from serving my branch church in several capacities.

One day about two years ago a Christian Science periodical arrived in the mail, and I read the testimonies of healing. One told of a condition similar to mine that was healed when the testifier, with the help of the Concordance to Mrs. Eddy's writings, studied every reference to "God" in Science and Health. For some time I had been aware of this statement in the textbook (p. 390): "It is our ignorance of God, the divine Principle, which produces apparent discord, and the right understanding of Him restores harmony." Now I resolved to begin this same line of prayer and study.
