My gratitude for Christian Science and for the many healings it...
My gratitude for Christian Science and for the many healings it has brought me is unbounded. When our youngest son was several weeks old, he was constipated for five days. I was a new student of this Science, and after praying on my own I called a Christian Science practitioner for help. This sentence of Mrs. Eddy's was given me (Science and Health, p. 283): "Mind is the source of all movement, and there is no inertia to retard or check its perpetual and harmonious action." During this time the child had been in no discomfort, and with the practitioner's prayer, his healing was immediate and permanent.
I have had healings of eczema, bursitis, hemorrhage, and effects of falls, to name just a few proofs of God's love. The healing of hemorrhage was accomplished through my study of Christ Jesus healing of the woman diseased with an issue of blood for twelve years (see Matt. 9:20-22 and Luke 8:43-48). This statement from Science and Health also helped me achieve victory (p. 373): "Establish the scientific sense of health, and you relieve the oppressed organ. The inflammation, decomposition, or deposit will abate, and the disabled organ will resume its healthy functions." I felt I had touched the hem of Christ's garment with this healing and with the others that followed. I also enjoyed receiving Christian Science class instruction and serving a branch church in many activities.
An early healing in our family continues to inspire me. A number of years ago my sister became ill and could not move her body. Doctors could find nothing wrong with her. When she was brought home in an ambulance, she begged my parents not to call another doctor, as she was exhausted from many examinations. My parents agreed, for they had much faith in God, but they were unsure as to the next step.
