God maintains our health

After his shipwreck on Melita, Paul was well looked after by Publius, the island's leading official. Publius's father had been ill with a fever, and Paul restored him to health. The healing was not miraculous. It was an example of pure Christian healing as practiced by Christ Jesus.

Jesus' demonstration of divine Principle healed Peter's mother-in-law of a fever and raised Lazarus from the tomb. By these acts Jesus proved that God is Life and man is Life's idea. His teachings were not lectures on drugging but explanations of man's relationship to his creator. Christian Science shows that all who understand the Principle of Jesus' teachings and recognize man's spiritual identity can follow the Master's example and heal through prayer.

Man exists as the expression of divine Truth. Therefore the order, control, and harmony of Truth are manifested in man just as the light, warmth, and energy of the sun are manifested in a sunbeam. Man's being is derived from exhaustless Life; therefore he expresses the qualities of Spirit, never matter.
