Metaphysical treatment is not self-hypnosis
It all happened a long time ago when I had not fully grasped the significance of "Thy will be done." Matt. 6:10;
I found myself faced with a very serious financial problem. At first I blamed the situation, the circumstances, and people. Then I realized that, as a Christian Scientist, I should work out the problem through prayer. I seriously resolved to do this. I decided that God alone would be my helper.
But this is how I would turn to God: I would plan a particular way by which my immediate needs could be met—such as the sale of jewelry or property, or a request for a loan. Then I would turn to God in prayer with the thought that divine Love would guide me to go ahead with one of these projects. I believed this was God's will—or rather, I would persuade myself that the particular plan was God's will—and I would act accordingly.
