How high is your goal?
Our sights are best set on the summit of Spirit if we are to achieve consistent spiritual progress, with its accompanying ability to help mankind. A lesser aim would inevitably hinder our advancement. Mrs. Eddy writes: "The discoverer of Christian Science finds the path less difficult when she has the high goal always before her thoughts, than when she counts her footsteps in endeavoring to reach it. When the destination is desirable, expectation speeds our progress." Science and Health, p. 426;
My family and I enjoy climbing mountains. Our goal is always to gain the summit, with its unrivaled views. We prepare accordingly. We study the route and weather conditions carefully. We provide ourselves with maps, compass, food, protective clothing and sturdy boots. We equip ourselves to reach the top.
In studying Christian Science, it is well to ask: What is my aim? How high is my goal?
