No devil in infinite good
Passing a drive-in theater one day, I noticed that the movie then showing was on the currently popular theme of the devil's influence over mankind.
My immediate reaction was one of thankfulness for Christian Science. This Science has shown me that, contrary to the orthodox theological teaching of my childhood, there is no personal devil in opposition to God, good. There is no evil power to tempt us into forsaking goodness, to become a part of our very nature, finally pulling us down into the everlasting punishment of hell.
Indeed, Christian Science teaches us to impersonalize evil—to see not only that evil is not a being called Satan but that it is never a part of man. This Science instructs us to separate evil from the individual and deal with the evil only, denying it reality on the grounds that it has nothing to do with God or God's spiritual creation, man. Seeing this, we can subdue and annul evil.
