For at least thirty years I have been studying Christian Science—a great part of that time as a member of The Mother Church and later as a member of a branch church also. I did not come to Science in a distressed circumstance but through a personal relationship and on a basis of intellectual curiosity. I very quickly moved from a scoffing attitude to the conviction that this was the truth. There is no way to escape the irrefutable logic of Science once you begin to consider it seriously.

An understanding application of this Science has given me abundant supply of my needs and a greater appreciation of the beauty of Life. I have been healed of the symptoms of sciatica, and numerous physical disorders have faded into nothingness.

Relationships have been an area of great trial for me. The nature of my profession fostered many traits of arrogance and dictatorial attitudes, which ruined my first marriage. At the dissolution of the marriage I prayed to be taken away because living was too painful. To those in similar circumstances I say that through understanding, scientific prayer the seeds of happiness and spiritual growth can be nurtured from the lessons of such a situation. In my case, I was awakened to my errors of thinking and forced to face my mistakes and correct them. Mrs. Eddy says in Science and Health (p. 296), "Either here or hereafter, suffering or Science must destroy all illusions regarding life and mind, and regenerate material sense and self." I am now deeply happy in a marriage, and I have learned to exercise a measure of God-given wisdom that helps to happify our home.
