Letters to the Press
From Christian Science Committees on Publication
The Tampa Tribune Tampa, Florida
I would like to correct some of the impressions and serious misstatements of fact about Christian Science congregations found in [an] article (February 11) and the Newsweek piece on which it was based.
Charges of widespread dissidence and failing financial support stem, not surprisingly, from a "tiny" group of former church members in California (the adjective is one which was used by the Los Angeles Times). Contrary to the rumors of a decline in financial support, contributions to the Church by individual Christian Scientists have actually doubled in the past five years.
