Just a mistake
Sickness is unreal. It is delusion, a false belief. In Genesis we are told, "God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good."Gen. 1:31; Sickness is not good. It suggests that either God made something that isn't good or that there is another power besides God, which causes disease. It doesn't matter how real sickness appears, how long it has seemed to go on, or how many people believe it is real. It isn't; Christian Science demonstrates this.
Early in my study of Christian Science one of the children became quite sick. I knew that this Science heals but thought perhaps my understanding wasn't sufficient to heal this illness. I hadn't learned that we can always ask for prayerful help from a Christian Science practitioner. Although I recognized God to be the only healer, I felt increasingly concerned and responsible; so the children and I set out for a doctor.
The condition was diagnosed as a strep throat. Because of the nature of the illness, the doctor asked to examine the other children. To my surprise, he said they, too, were infected. They had shown no signs of feeling sick.
