Talk! Talk! Talk!
Should people be talking so much? A great deal of talk is aimed at solving problems or alleviating them through human solutions. Yet Christian Science shows that human solutions, no matter how stalwartly put forth and executed, do not permanently solve human problems. The solution lies in an understanding of God and of man's true nature as His perfect spiritual outcome.
The Bible is abundant in both word and evidence that God is Life, Spirit, Love. How can much or little talk have any effect on real Life or on its ideal spiritual creation? Our need is to perceive the reality and presence of that creation and bring this truth to bear on the human situation. Mrs. Eddy says categorically, "Divine Love corrects and governs man." Science and Health, p. 6; How can talk influence God's government of man?
Is talk all in vain, then? No! When it is based on genuine, scientific prayer, is the outcome of communion with God, it becomes one way of expressing His wisdom. Man—the true, spiritual selfhood of each of us—is God's expression. This is his only reason for being. Christ Jesus was the most perfect example of the ideal spiritual man this world has ever known. He expressed that goodness which leads to complete salvation. Now Jesus certainly talked with people, as the Bible records—but always to the point and with a healing impetus.
