In April 1968 I began to have severe heart trouble, and I also suffered extremely from diabetes. I was using large amounts of insulin every day. My condition was diagnosed as incurable. As if this weren't enough, I had family problems and bad character traits.

In 1974 I went to Boston to visit a sister. I was fleeing from a family problem. While there, I passed by The Mother Church and remarked to my niece that I'd like to see the interior. From the moment that I entered and was greeted by a guide with much courtesy, I felt great inspiration. While I was being shown the beautiful building, I was receiving something divine. When we reached the auditorium, all I could do was exclaim aloud, "This is marvelous!" The woman told me where I could obtain the textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, and she also gave me some literature. Later I bought the book. The inspiration I had felt there didn't leave me. I read from Science and Health continually. When I returned to my home state, I found a Christian Science Reading Room that was very convenient for me. There I was taught how to study the Bible Lesson in the Christian Science Quarterly. I bought all the literature available in Spanish. Every Monday I went to the Reading Room to study for several hours. I don't know when I was healed of diabetes, and of an irritable disposition—but these difficulties dissolved.

In 1975 I returned to Boston, where I attended a Sunday service. I found the same guide again, who was as kind as ever, and others who told me of a Spanish service in a branch church where I live. I shall never forget the love everyone expressed toward me.
