One evening, while crossing our yard in the darkness, I fell on the pavement of our driveway. My right ankle was injured. I helped myself up with difficulty, but I was unable to stand on my right foot. I immediately denied this picture by repeating "the scientific statement of being" from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. It includes these words (p. 468): "There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all."

In the meantime my husband had come running to help me into the house. My husband is not a student of Christian Science, but he knew that I now wanted to be alone. So he left me to pray quietly.

I pondered the Lord's Prayer and "the scientific statement of being," and I remembered what Mrs. Eddy writes in Science and Health (p. 424): "Accidents are unknown to God, or immortal Mind, and we must leave the mortal basis of belief and unite with the one Mind, in order to change the notion of chance to the proper sense of God's unerring direction and thus bring out harmony.
