Turn to God, not person
Endless Peace and Joy
A few years ago a girl I had been dating for a year and a half broke up with me. It was no easy task to see that my joy didn't come from being with her. But I learned a lesson I'll never forget: real happiness comes from recognizing our established relationship with our Father-Mother God.
One evening, I remember, after hours of struggling with frustration and rejection, I sang a hymn right out loud into the night air. The words were especially meaningful to me:
Only God can bring us gladness,
Only God can give us peace;
Joys are vain that end in sadness,
Joy divine shall never cease. Christian Science Hymnal, No. 263;
