Be Prepared

"Here's a card from Dave!"

Dave's parents were working in the yard when the mailman delivered the card. The message it carried was an urgent plea for help, postmarked three days before.

The Boy Scout camp where Dave was camping with his troop was about an hour-and-a-half drive from his home. It was deep in a mountain forest with no telephones except for use in an emergency like a fire. The mail was picked up only every other day because the camp was in such an out-of-the-way location.
