Approving the purpose of a member of her household to take a step higher in spirituality for the New Year, Mrs. Eddy is related to have said, "Yes, a step out of sense, a step into actions, not words" (see Irving C. Tomlinson, Twelve Years with Mary Baker Eddy, p. 79). For me this year has truly been a step into action, into the demonstration of this divine Science that I have been studying for twenty years. I was healed of an attack of influenza in the space of a few days, through being guided by the loving solicitude of a Christian Science practitioner to understand that man is united scientifically to his creator, God, as God's reflection or idea. Holding tightly to these words from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mrs. Eddy (p. 303), "the Principle governing the reflection," I was able to demonstrate the absolute power of the truth and thus I was restored to perfect health. (The full sentence reads: "The reflection, through mental manifestation, of the multitudinous forms of Mind which people the realm of the real is controlled by Mind, the Principle governing the reflection.")

A problem of a legal nature that concerned me a lot was solved by realizing the supremacy of spiritual law over human laws. I understood the vindication of one's own true rights is found only in God, that this law of Love blesses one and all. Also, when I faced a question relative to a right of guardianship, the Bible and Science and Health were my guide toward the solution. Psalm 94 says (v. 15), "But judgment shall return unto righteousness: and all the upright in heart shall follow it." As Mrs. Eddy says (Science and Health, p. 542), "Let Truth uncover and destroy error in God's own way, and let human justice pattern the divine." After many days of prayer, with the help of the practitioner, I found the solution to the problem when I was prepared to abandon all purely material reasoning. I began to see in the guardian the image, or idea, of God—"the Principle governing the reflection." This thought was really the final irresistible propulsion that made all resistance to a just solution fall, reestablishing a harmonious situation for all involved.

In all these proofs I have truly been able to prove that good thoughts are an invincible armor, that God is above all human reasoning, and that when we harmonize our thought with His will we find His blessing and protection.
