I wish to express my gratitude for the many blessings Christian Science has brought into our lives. I am especially grateful for those Christian Scientists who consistently see man as the very likeness of God; who never condemn the individual, but separate the error from him, and through pure and absolute reliance upon divine Principle, Love, heal both physically and morally.

After being healed in 1928 of a nervous breakdown and faithfully studying Christian Science twenty years, I seemed to be overcome with disappointment, fear, and doubt of my ability to understand divine Truth. I did not doubt that Christian Science was the answer to all human problems; only my ability to apply this Science or to understand it was in question.

During this period of uncertainty I was able to continue my teaching career. Promotions came to me without being sought. As counselor and dean of students, I witnessed remarkable results in the harmonious solution of difficult problems. When asked by administrators and parents how I knew what to say or do, I could only answer that the words and solutions came without human planning. Later I realized that my sincere desire to help others must have made me receptive to God's guidance, even while I was feeling personally helpless.
