I am deeply and sincerely grateful for the beautiful teachings of Christian Science.

I was reared in a home where we were taught to love and revere the Bible. But the Bible remained a closed book to me. How grateful I was when I took up the study of Christian Science. It unlocked the Bible to me and revealed its treasures. It also revealed to me clearer understanding of the practice and method of Jesus' teachings in healing the sick and in solving every type of problem. I cannot express in words my gratitude for the Christian Science practitioners and for the many healings we have had in our family through their wise help and consecrated prayers.

In one instance I had a severe fall; my shin was scraped, and when I tried to rise, my foot felt as if it had been badly damaged. It was with difficulty that I was able to limp around. I phoned a practitioner and asked her to pray for me. She joyously agreed. Each day I felt improvement, but I still limped. Then one night I was awakened by a couple of severe tugs in my foot. The following day I was able to walk in greater comfort. Two nights later I was again awakened; this time three severe tugs took place. The following day I was able to walk freely. The toes that had been dislocated had been restored to proper position. I was overjoyed by this healing. The shin was completely healed at the same time.

Further healings in our family include malignant malaria, jaundice, nervous prostration, a fractured neck, and bruised lung and ribs. In each case the healing took place entirely through prayer.

I was healed of skin cancer, which appeared on my nose. I had turned from time to time to practitioners for treatment, as I was rather fearful. I am indeed grateful for their help and encouragement. Then I felt I must deepen my own understanding of God's allness and of the synonyms of God, also of man's relation to God as His image and likeness. In Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures Mary Baker Eddy writes on page 465, "God is incorporeal, divine, supreme, infinite Mind, Spirit, Soul, Principle, Life, Truth, Love," and on page 470, "Man is the expression of God's being." I prayed along these lines for over three years, not yielding to fear, but confident that healing would take place.

Then one day, while I was placing a dressing over the affected area, these words came to me very clearly and firmly: "God is not conscious of this condition, neither am I as His reflection; and that's final!"

A few days later the growth began to disintegrate, and within a week it completely crumbled away. Within a very short time after that—with my grateful acknowledgment of the power of God, divine Love, to complete the healing—the skin was perfectly restored in that area. The condition had been diagnosed by a doctor. This healing took place about twenty-five years ago.

I can only say again, Thank you, Father, for Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, and for Mrs. Eddy for her dedication to the teachings of the Bible, through which God revealed to her divine Science, the Comforter, set forth in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.
