Without personal origin or possession...

All Good Is from God

If someone suggests that a person is intelligent and lovely, do we agree? On the surface it would appear that we should if the evidence supports such a judgment. But this could lead to a serious mistake.

We may ask, Is it a mistake to recognize beauty and intelligence in others? No! The error lies not in recognizing these qualities but in assuming them to be personally originated and possessed. All real qualities are spiritual, reflecting the nature of God. Man is God's image, expressing His qualities and not personally originated characteristics. The Bible informs us that Christ Jesus was once addressed as "good Master" and that he rebuked the speaker, saying, "Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God." Matt. 19:17;

The concept of man as a creator and a personal possessor of good, limits, cheats, causes envy and hate; it prevents a realization that every individual is the complete expression of the one infinite Mind, God. A personal sense of beauty or goodness cannot possibly envision the infinite range of beauty that is inherent in every idea of God.
