The final one hundred pages of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures...
The final one hundred pages of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy are filled with testimonies of healings brought about solely by study of the book. In most instances the healings came about with no special treatment given to meet the particular inharmony. No specific support was sought from other Christian Scientists; no Christian Science practitioner or nurse was engaged by the person healed.
This still happens. People are healed by opening their hearts to the truth in Science and Health. Before and during the years of World War II, I experienced three welcome and permanent healings through just such study of Science and Health along with the Bible. I had not yet had Christian Science class instruction to help me organize my study and prayerful research, but I persevered with daily study of the Lesson-Sermon citations in the Christian Science Quarterly.
The first healing was in Los Angeles. I was just out of the Navy and back in college. The smoking habit, which I had picked up during pre-Navy college days, became heavy and habitual during the four years aboard ship. So did the drinking. I knew that neither smoking nor drinking was compatible with Christian Science and I really wished to be free of them.
