Back to Toowoomba
During the school holidays several young Australian boys decided to hike through bushland to a favorite picnic spot called "The Seven Mile Caves." It was seven miles from their hometown of Toowoomba.
They set out bright and early one morning and had a day of exploring caves, swimming in the clear, cold stream, cooking their midday meal over a smoky fire and swinging on monkey-ropes from tree to tree. When it was time to go home, they were careful to put out the camp fire and gather their belongings. Then they set out.
But the return journey seemed a long way, and when one of the boys said he knew of a much shorter track, they let him take the lead.
