Dropping false beliefs of forgetfulness
Improving Your Memory
Perhaps you've heard someone say, "I just can't remember things anymore. My memory isn't what it used to be." Christian Science provides a practical, healing solution for this problem, which can be realized as we pray scientifically—that is, pray from the basis of man's spiritual perfection as God's likeness.
There is only one Mind, God. Man reflects this one perfect Mind as its idea. Man is not material, he is the complete, spiritual expression of divine Mind. As a spiritual idea, he can express only the harmony and completeness of Mind. He cannot, therefore, lose his memory. Mrs. Eddy writes: "If delusion says, 'I have lost my memory,' contradict it. No faculty of Mind is lost." Science and Health, p. 407; We need to see what memory really is in the light of Christian Science. Man is not a mortal being with a faulty mental apparatus; he is an immortal idea of God, who always lives in the one Mind, God, reflecting His intelligence. Divine Mind maintains only order and harmony in man and throughout the entire realm of creation. Making these truths our own, we will display sharper memory, greater retentiveness.
Mrs. Eddy writes in the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health, "Mind alone possesses all faculties, perception, and comprehension." ibid., p. 488; As we understand this truth clearly and realize that man is the perfect reflection of the one divine Mind, our thought-processes become freer from impairment or discord. Identifying ourselves as children of God, we perceive the ideas we need right when we need them.
