Maintain the True View

When trouble arises, what is our first reaction? Do we try to figure out what it is, why we have it, and how long it will be with us? Or do we immediately disown the intruding belief and deny it entrance into our experience?

Certainly, if there came to our door an individual who we knew would try to rob us of some good, we would not let him in. When a false belief comes to us, however, we are sometimes not so careful with our judgment and may let in the error, conversing and consulting with it until, perhaps much later, we find it has to be cast out as the nothingness it is.

When a disease presents itself, for example, material thinking would nourish this false belief in human thought by magnifying its menace. But Christian Science shows us that we need to banish belief in it from thought and not allow mortal mind to use us as a mouthpiece for its broadcast of contagion and disaster. If we are exposed to rehearsals of disease or other wrong conditions, we can deny these broadcasts any reality and affirm the eternal perfection of God and man.
