Upon opening a consulting firm some years ago, I was faced with what seemed an insurmountable accumulation of debts, both at the company and at home.
The one client, who at that time sustained the business, was suddenly confronted with financial collapse, which meant we had to find other clients immediately. Daily I prayed to be led by God, but many times my thoughts became clouded with fear, discouragement, and the burden of family responsibilities.
One evening, after what seemed to be a discouraging day, I called the Christian Science practitioner who was working with me on the problem. During our conversation I stated that I would be willing to give up the business and look elsewhere for employment. I recall the practitioner's reassuring words of encouragement regarding God's tender, embracing love for all His children, and these words lifted my thought above the mesmerism of worry, which a few moments before had seemed so real.
