The Effects of Spirituality

Those who have been healed through their own study and practice of Christian Science usually recognize what has taken place; they have felt a spiritual awakening. They have begun to utilize man's God-bestowed spiritual power, which has enabled them to perceive, in some degree, the purely spiritual nature of the real man and, consequently, the unreality of a material sense of man. Man's true relationship to God has become clearer.

Christian Science teaches that because God is Spirit, His creation, including man, is spiritual and perfect. A great hope comes to the student of this Science when he begins to realize the immortal nature of man's true being. The great fear of mortality that besets mankind is largely lifted from his consciousness; life's possibilities become brighter.

The concept of man as a mortal born into matter gives rise to all mankind's fears and sorrows, sin and sickness. This false concept needs to be changed if man's God-given dominion over evil is to be established. The spiritual view of man supplies that need. In his letter to the Romans St. Paul wrote, "For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace." Rom. 8:6;
