Shutting the Closet Door

Neither evil as a reality nor evil as an illusion is known to the divine Mind and its creation. Matter, sin, disease, and death are totally unknown to God. He is aware only of Himself and His spiritual, wholly good creation.

Consider, for example, these three statements:
A. Matter, sin, disease, and death do not exist.
B. Nor do they seem to exist.
C. "But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly." Matt. 6:6;

How do A and B relate to C? The principal link is this: Centering thought exclusively on spiritual reality, we comply with Christ Jesus' counsel when he recommended going into the closet and shutting the door. When we pray, no matter what sort of prayer we undertake, striving to achieve the divine vision is important, but in the case of scientific prayer, or Christian Science treatment, obedience to Jesus' rule is more than important—it infuses treatment with divine power.
