I have been a Christian Scientist since 1948, but I had my first healing in 1947. Like the woman Christ Jesus healed who had the issue of blood for twelve years, I had been ill for six months, and was also suffering from a chronic heart condition. Much flesh had left my body, and I was in a very weakened condition from loss of blood. Most of my time was spent in bed.

No one can ever know the utter despair that I felt when the doctor said that I had less than a year to live. Two of my three children were in grammar school at that time and I certainly was not ready to die and leave them.

A friend came to see me and brought with her a copy of the textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. She told me to read this book, and even if I did not understand all that I read she was sure it would help me.
