The following is an instance when I turned to God for direction and endeavored to let go of human will.

I'd had enough. I had been waiting all morning in the noisy corridor of a graduate school building to interview for a place in the school's teacher education program. Due to my own oversight, however, I had failed to confirm the exact date of my trip, and the administrator I had driven five hours to talk with was out of the office. Hour of return: unknown.

But more than creating disappointment, the wait had exposed some lurking uncertainties. "Did I really feel this was where I belonged? Why was I interested in teaching in the first place? Because I couldn't think of anything else to do?" I realized that the confusion and discord of the situation really only mirrored the unsettled nature of my thought.
