I became acquainted with Christian Science in 1932, when I was living with a family where the mother studied this Science and was a member of the branch church in my town.

When I left this family, I continued to go to the branch church and later became an earnest student, studying the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly, reading the periodicals, and working with the Concordances.

A healing I remember in particular, and which took place in the early days of this study, is the healing of pain in my body, especially in my legs. One Sunday morning it seemed absolutely impossible for me to get up to go church. I decided to read the Lesson-Sermon at home at the same hour as the church service—to have church at home. While I was reading, I felt close to God and inspired by the healing truth. There was a very strong tremor throughout my whole body, and the pain which had incapacitated me disappeared and has never returned.
