Understanding the Healing Trinity

In the early spring a lovely three-petaled wild flower known as the great white trillium appears in protected, wooded places in many areas. The triangular shape of its three petals, their equidistance and equal size, have occasioned its other name of "trinity lily," symbolic of the powerful, spiritual relationship that Jesus understood and designated as Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. See Matt. 28:19;

Every teaching of the Master's has special significance in relation to his healing work. The spiritual import of the trinity underlies man's relationship to God as his Father-Mother—as Life, Truth, Love. An understanding of this spiritual unity is essential to healing today.

A full statement of this relationship appears in Science and Health where Mrs. Eddy writes as follows: "Life, Truth, and Love constitute the triune Person called God,—that is, the triply divine Principle, Love. They represent a trinity in unity, three in one,—the same in essence, though multiform in office: God the Father-Mother; Christ the spiritual idea of sonship; divine Science or the Holy Comforter. These three express in divine Science the threefold, essential nature of the infinite. They also indicate the divine Principle of scientific being, the intelligent relation of God to man and the universe." Science and Health, pp. 331—332;
