The Kingdom at Hand
John the Baptist first put it into words: "The kingdom of heaven is at hand." Matt. 3:2; It must have been, understandably, very hard for anyone to believe. It still is, from the human standpoint. Christ Jesus, however, not only preached this message but proved by his works the help and healing that can be brought into human view through the understanding of what those words really mean.
Even though Jesus counseled his disciples to continue to preach the same theme, Christendom generally has long ceased to do so, finding it easier to believe that heaven is a place one might go to, if one has been good enough, when one dies, if one does not, by default, enter the kingdom of hell instead.
But if those words from the lips of the greatest teacher and demonstrator of spiritual power the world has ever known have meaning, then they should be headline news in our thinking every day in this, or any, age.
