My mother was quickly receptive to Christian Science when she observed the healing of a loved teacher of her childhood days, who had been ill with a serious heart condition. Mother was deeply impressed. She had been suffering from a painful lung condition and was quickly healed with the help of a Christian Science practitioner. Mother then spent the rest of her long life as a Christian Science nurse, helping to bring health and joy to others.
During the years I have studied Science there have been many healings. Two instantaneous ones stand out clearly. In Science and Health Mrs. Eddy writes (p. 113), "The vital part, the heart and soul of Christian Science, is Love." The two practitioners involved in these two healings were both reflecting divine Love, of which Mrs. Eddy says (ibid., p. 494), "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need."
When on a two-hundred-fifty-mile trip I became so ill that it seemed impossible to go on, I phoned the practitioner who was expecting me at my destination. I got back into the car perfectly free, and finished the remaining forty miles in safety.
