I wish to express my appreciation for the great good that Christian Science has brought to my family. Although I was raised in a Christian Science Sunday School, I was very lax in my approach to church during my late teens and early twenties. I attended church because I loved the services, but that was the extent of my involvement. On occasion I found myself indulging in materialistic pleasures that were not in harmony with Christian Science. Yet the words of Jesus (Matt. 6:24) "Ye cannot serve God and mammon" stayed with me. Gradually I began to resume study of the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly and to rely on Science for healing.

One evening I was confronted with a severe headache. I worked vehemently to know the truth of myself as a reflection, or spiritual idea, of God, and the headache disappeared. I remember the delight of my freedom. Since that time a pattern of periodic, severe headaches has vanished from my life.

While in college I met my future wife in a Christian Science college organization. Within a short time we were married, and I have been very grateful for the support we have given one another through our understanding of Science. This religion has been particularly helpful in raising our two children, who recently started school. Through the treatment of a Christian Science practitioner in each case, we have seen one son healed of a torn earlobe and the other son healed of a head injury caused by an auto accident. These healings occurred through mental surgery alone.

Recently, with a practitioner's help, our sons were healed of a severe case of measles. Our prayers embraced the scientific fact that there is no such thing as a contagious disease in God's universe, and God's universe is the only place there really is. Throughout these experiences my thought remained calm and trusting because I knew that God, their real Parent, was caring for them.

Two years ago my teaching position was reduced to half-time, and my wife could not find full-time teaching. After careful prayer the thought came to me that we should move to a certain section of another state. We did this and found a lovely house in a very harmonious way. Even though we didn't have jobs, the thought came to me with startling clarity that this was our right place. I accepted temporary work, praying with deep gratitude for it and knowing that I would be placed where I could be of service. Within a short time my wife and I both found exactly the kind of teaching positions we had hoped for. In addition, a part-time position at a university opened up for me. This was evidence of God's plan for us.

I am deeply thankful for class instruction and for the priceless unfolding of harmony and place that Christian Science has brought into my life. As Mrs. Eddy writes in Science and Health (p. 494), "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need."
