Joining Church: What's It All About?
There's more to joining a church than supporting it and working for it. Joining a church can be thought of as uniting ourselves to the Cause we love and then learning to really, spiritually, love the other church members. In church committee work our learning that expressing love and harmony in relationships with others is more important than always having things go our way—than, say, decorating the church to our liking.
Another benefit of joining a church is the developing of our capabilities. For example, accepting a position, such as Reader or Sunday School teacher, even though feeling unworthy or unqualified to fulfill it, we can prove through prayer that ability comes from God.
In the Glossary of Science and Health Mrs. Eddy defines the spiritual, perfect idea, "Church," as follows: "The structure of Truth and Love; whatever rests upon and proceeds from divine Principle." Science and Health, p. 583;
