Some years ago I worked in an area of a big city that was considered crime-ridden. I commuted to this section from a suburb daily. Within the first six months I was a victim of robbery on three occasions. The third time I was injured and had to be cared for in a nursing home for Christian Scientists.
While there, one morning I prayed earnestly for Truth to uncover my wrong thinking in order that I might again be about my normal business. If there was something I needed to learn, I was certain my Father-Mother God would inform me of it. This session of prayer ended with silent repetition of the "Daily Prayer" from the Manual of The Mother Church by Mrs. Eddy (Art. VIII, Sect. 4): " 'Thy kingdom come;' let the reign of divine Truth, Life, and Love be established in me, and rule out of me all sin; and may Thy Word enrich the affections of all mankind, and govern them!"
It was as though a light had been turned on in the room, for I could suddenly understand so clearly that there are not two kinds of people—one kind that God governs (me) and another that He does not control (them)! And the spiritual fact is that there is but one kind of man and one government of all—God's government.
