Christian Science was presented to me by a close friend while my husband was in the service during World War II. I had been disturbed for several years by periods of depression for which I could find no relief through medical means. My first healing in Science occurred during one of these depression periods, when I asked my friend for help and she prayed for me. Soon the dark cloud lifted, and I was perfectly free. Several more times this mental darkness threatened me, but I clung to Christian Science for healing, and the condition was always quickly met and finally it was fully overcome.

Words cannot express my gratitude for the complete and permanent release from this problem. Since that time, happiness, joy, and a warm conviction of God's love and perfect care have been mine.

I was healed of the smoking habit when I began to read the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. I used to light a cigarette when I sat down to read, but this became so distasteful to me that the habit simply slipped away without any effort on my part. At this time I was also healed of the fear of driving a car and easily passed my test within a week or so of learning to drive. These early healings were the result of reading Science and Health.
