During a Christian Science lecture for young people, the fact that Christian Science is in accordance with divine law became very clear to me. Following the lecture I was healed by this new knowledge twice, in a very short time.

In the first instance I was welding an iron grating during my practical training in my studies as a mechanical engineer. In doing so I took hold of a place that had just been worked on. (In electrical welding, temperatures occur up to 3,000 degrees C.). A severe pain went through me. I prayed to grasp hold of a clear thought. Then I quietly sang to myself Mrs. Eddy's words, "O gentle presence, peace and joy and power" (Christian Science Hymnal, No. 207). The second verse reads:
