Do You Fit In or Feel Left Out?

In that large city of a new country I felt very alone. I had no friends, no adequate knowledge of the language, and no training for the business world. My career as an actress had come abruptly to an end in my native country, and my foreign college certificate carried no weight in the world of commerce, I was told. "What can I do?" I asked. "Where do I fit in?"

Amidst all this mental turmoil, this left-out feeling, I knew there was a right answer at hand. Does not the Bible promise, "Behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it"? Rev. 3:8; The open door of opportunity to express God in useful work can be confidently claimed, for it comes from Him, the source of all good, the Father-Mother of the universe, the all-knowing divine Mind, all-encompassing Love. I had learned to accept this truth through my study of Christian Science and had seen many proofs that God is Love wherever we are, under whatever circumstances we may find ourselves.

Divine Love had shown me a way to health, happiness, and success, and this same Love was able and willing now to help me meet this challenge as I trusted God completely. In the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health, Mrs. Eddy writes: "Meet every adverse circumstance as its master." And futher on, "Think less of material conditions and more of spiritual." Science and Health, p. 419;
